Welcome to the t-cell chronicles
HIV is different from other life threatening conditions in that it comes hand in hand with stigma, discrimination and social isolation. Even our grief for the loved ones we have lost maybe complicated by the stigmatising attitudes of others. And yes HIV does affect the marginalised in our communities, gay men, drug users, the poor, sex workers, migrants and the vulnerable. These people are our brothers, sisters neighbours and lovers, they are the faceless strangers, the statistics – they are us. Whether we are personally infected or affected we are in this together. This website will publish articles and stories which we hope will educate the reader which in turn would go some way in questioning common myths and stereotypes. Our aim is to challenge discrimination and break down social barriers. This site aims to give a platform to any person living with HIV worldwide so that they can share their experiences to a global community. It is hoped that you will find the site informative, moving and a contribution to the historical framework and relevance of the personal experiences of those living with the virus.
